Cat clings on for 50 kilometers

A cat has had a miraculous escape after clinging on to a car bumper for a fur-raising 50 kilometers.

Monty definitely used up one of his nine lives after his owner drove off with him hanging on to the underside of his car.

The brave feline managed to claw on until being thrown off at 100kph when the car drove on to the M60 Motorway.

Luckily his owner, John Cotgrave, spotted Monty tumbling across the road in his rear-view mirror.

Mr Cotgrave said: "As I started to increase my speed, I could feel bumps underneath the car and was shocked to see little Monty in the middle of the road.

"Seeing him bounce and roll is an image I will never forget… my whole life froze – I really thought we would lose him."

The fortunate feline, who had nodded off inside the car's rear bumper, suffered just a black eye and some missing teeth.

Humphrey flops into record books

Hungry Humphrey has flopped into the record books.

The 42in super-sized French lop-eared rabbit is now officially the biggest bunny in the world, tipping the scales at a whopping two stone (12.7 kilograms) - the breed normally weighs in at around 10lb (5 kilograms).

Humphrey, a buck from Lanarkshire, is now 3lb heavier than the previous world record holder.

The 18-month-old, who is reportedly still growing, has swelled up due to his bigger than normal appetite for hay, carrots, asparagus and his favourite - digestive biscuits.

It would appear that Humphrey now has the freedom, as he can no longer squeeze into his 6ft cage, to roam his owner Colin Dunigan's four-bedroom detached house.

He has made himself at home, apparently enjoying warming himself next to the fire and watching television.

In an interview with the Daily Mail newspaper, Mr Dunigan explains: ""Every day he just kept getting bigger and bigger… I thought he would stop, but he hasn't so far.

"If I try to leave the house without leaving the telly or the radio on he will stop me before I go."

Grubs up Doc.

King can do tricks

A pedigree cavalier King Charles spaniel has amazed his owner by doing an array of tricks.

Eight-year-old Cindy's showstopper is balancing objects on all four paws while lying down.

She was taught her tricks after being taken in as an eight-month old and despite two leg operations since has managed to keep up her entertaining act.

Other tricks in the repertoire include holding a golf ball in a spoon held in her mouth while balancing objects on her head.

Owner Mark Bucknell, said that the family had run out of tricks to teach her.

He said: "Who needs the telly when you've got a dog like this?

"You don't do the dog any favours if you leave it as a dumb mutt… put the effort in, get your dog some intelligence, get it to understand and you will have yourself a better, more fun dog."

Although dogs like border collies, poodles and alsations are normally easier to train than others, this does not necessarily mean they are more intelligent, as other breeds may have different attributes.
