Doggy 'leads the way' in home defence

A new superdog is being touted as the ultimate property protector, it has been reported.

Titan wonderdogs are being trained to protect family homes by tracing and trapping intruders until the police arrive, according to the Telegraph.

After two years of training at specialist German camps, the Schutzhunds – protection dogs – can cost up to $130,000.

Their creator Simon Brodie decided to train the super-animal after speaking to people concerned about the safety of their homes.

"You can have the most expensive CCTV cameras and alarms in the world but if someone climbs into your garden when your children are playing they can be useless – the Titan will alert people to danger as well as acting as a deterrent," he added.

The titan is available for $90,000 and the Titan Ultra – which the trainers claim can be traced back to champion German Shepherd bloodlines costs $130,000.

Households in Japan and the Middle East have been snapping up the dogs to beef up their properties' defence.

Honda launches canine-friendly website

A car manufacturer has launched a new website aimed at dog lovers, it has been reported.

Honda, Asia's second biggest automobile producer, has launched the special online advisory service that will inform pet owners which seat fabrics are best to remove dog hairs from.

In addition, it will provide information on a model's storage dimension space so that pet lovers can ensure they have enough room in the boot for cages..

Also featuring on the four-legged-friendly website is a section dedicated to dog-accommodating cafes and hotels for pooches that fancy themselves as a bit of a socialite.

"There's definitely a need there that wasn't being met," Teruhiro Murai, an internet marketer at the firm, told Reuters.

Meanwhile, the Guardian reported this week that Peckham's Rye Hotel was the friendliest pub in the country for dogs.

The boozer offers "proper dog bowls" for your pet to enjoy their refreshments while you sip on a pint, the publication added.

Lucky cat strives to save station

A Japanese cat is causing a stir in her new employment role as station master in Kishi, it has been reported.

Tama, a tortoise shell moggy, wears her black uniform cap while working at the entrance of the station that is attracting scores of animal-loving tourists to the town in the west of the country, according to the Telegraph.

According to her employers, the nine-year-old feline has been raising revenue for the troubled Kishikawa train line and she has been promoted to "super-station master" as a reward.

Yoshiko Yamaki, the firm's spokesman, told the Associated Press: "She never complains, even though passengers touch her all over the place. She is an amazing cat. She has patience and charisma."

The organisation is selling a range of Tama-themed novelty goods including postcards, notebooks and a book of photos called Diary of Tama, the Station master.

Cats are believed to bring good luck to businesses in Japan, so the recruitment of the cat by the station would not be extraordinary.
